Bio

Sophia Dodic is an emerging curator and artist in Kamloops, BC. She grew up in metro Vancouver and then moved to Kamloops in order to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with a major in gallery studies. In addition to participating in projects pertaining to curating and collections management, she had a studio background with a focus on oil painting. Her artistic practice explores themes centering around ontology (the philosophical study of being) and its relation to ones surroundings and landscape; these contribute to my exploration of how I feel living in a society that often alienates people in the Fabric Collage Series. This study of being is additionally present within the Dissolution Series of  biological and abstract nature that represent her relationship between her body and mind, and the dissociation around existing in a body as a women.

Within the last years of her BFA she took an interest in the workings in a gallery. Specifically in education, collections and museum management: this interest then proceeded to creating an interactive platform to research visitor interaction with art. She is currently set to graduate in April 2020.
